The South Dakota State University School of Performing Arts announces the 2026-27 University Chamber Music Series, a four‑concert season bringing exceptional national artists to Brookings for intimate performances at the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center.

David Reynolds, director of South Dakota State University’s School of Performing Arts, will present “Brass in America,” a free public recital at 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13. The concert will take place in Founders Recital Hall at the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center.

The South Dakota State University School of Design is hosting artist Elizabeth Morisette as the Stuart Artist-in-Residence Sept. 8-Oct. 2.

Edgar McFadden, breeder of the aptly named wheat variety “Hope,” will be honored at a public ceremony and reception on Saturday, Aug. 29. The ceremony will celebrate the dedication of a new art sculpture, H.O.P.E. a Helix of Resilience: The Life, Journey & Legacy of Edgar S. McFadden.
