The Child and Family Resource Network at South Dakota State University is hosting its next “Common-Sense Parenting” class series starting Oct. 14.

A cancer pharmacologist is the speaker, but the message will be one appropriate to people in any field. Jared Barrott, an associate professor of cellular biology and physiology at Brigham Young University, will deliver the lecture “Think, Question, Innovate: The Pharmacist’s Edge” at the 35th annual Keo Glidden Smith Fall Convocation at 3 p.m. Oct. 20 in Founders Recital Hall in the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center on the South Dakota State University campus.

For the second consecutive year, student visits at the Engineering Career Fair topped 1,000, this time being a record 1,086 visits. The 2024 mark was 1,001. The Jerome J. Lohr College of Engineering Career Fair was Sept. 17-18 at Club 71 and loge-level spaces in Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium on the South Dakota State University campus.

For the second consecutive year, South Dakota State University finished just short of winning the International Quarter-Scale Tractor Student Design Competition. The SDSU Quarter-Scale Tractor Team, competing as the ���ϳԹ��� Tractor Company, finished in a tie with Kansas State for second place. North Carolina State defended its 2024 title, finishing 26 points ahead of its Midwest competitors scoring 2,316 points out of a possible 2,405. The 28th annual event was May 30-June 1 at the Expo Gardens Fairgrounds in Peoria, Illinois, with 23 teams competing from across the United States and Canada.

It feels like something straight out of a holiday film — twinkling lights, festive music, crisp winter air and families and friends coming together to celebrate. The magical scene is set at McCrory Gardens, where Garden Glow transforms the landscape into a winter wonderland, with thousands of sparkling lights illuminating the path.
