All are welcome to attend the Transient Animal Facility Grand Reopening! A ribbon cutting ceremony will be followed by a reception. Facility background: After multiple buildings were destroyed during the 2022 derecho, the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences was in desperate need of a space to hold animals that would only be on campus temporarily, either for research, coursework, livestock judging team preparation or the annual Little International event. Due to biosecurity and disease concerns, these animals have to be kept separate from the college’s regular livestock herds housed in other facilities. Thanks to legislative support and the hard work of many faculty and staff, construction on the facility was complete in the summer of 2026. This event will celebrate the reopening of a facility that directly supports providing students with hands-on learning opportunities.
