Innovative Healthcare Leadership Certificate
The innovative healthcare leadership certificate will prepare undergraduate students for leadership roles in the healthcare industry by developing skills in management, communication and organizational innovation.
The certificate equips graduates for both clinical and nonclinical leadership positions such as nursing home administrator, health information manager, clinic manager and social and community service manager. The certificate is recommended for undergraduate students in health-related degree programs but is open to students from all majors.
Required Coursework
These requirements are for students meeting the 2026-27 catalog and after. Twelve credits total are required.
- HSC 301 – Theory of Innovative Healthcare Leadership (three credits)
- HSC 401 – Application of Innovative Healthcare Leadership (two credits)
- HSC 401L – Application of Innovative Healthcare Leadership Practicum (one credit)
- HSC 451 – Innovative Healthcare Leadership Capstone (one credit)
- HSC 451L – Innovative Healthcare Leadership Capstone Practicum (two credits)
- LDR 210 – Foundations of Leadership (three credits) or LDR 310 – Leadership in Context (three credits) or LDR 435 – Organizational Leadership and Team Development (three credits)
Tuition and Fees
Cost is based on 2026-27 South Dakota Board of Regents tuition and fees.
